Chloe's 18th Birthday Cake
My cousin Chloe is going to be 18 already and it is really hard to believe. I remember playing school with her at our grandma's. She was the student along with my clan of stuff animals and now she is going to be graduating high school and going to college. Scary stuff!
Her favorite colors are purple and green. I wanted a desgin different from what I am used to doing so this is what I came up with. The bottom cake is sugar cookie cake and the top cake is white almond sour cream cake and they are both covered in fondant. The poor cake had to be part of a 10 minute long photo shoot with everyone in my family taking pictures of it hehe.

Ashley's Birthday Cake
I made the cake Friday night. I asked Ashley her favorite flavor and like many she said chocolate but she also said she liked any kind so I decided to mix it up a bit. I made her a White Almond Sour Cream cake with buttercream frosting. She is one person who I knew that would appreciate a cake with a less than normal name. I handed it off to her and she loved it and texted me later that night to tell me it was delicious! :)

Bows and Numbers
Yesterday I started working on the cake for my cousin Chloe birthday party this Sunday. I have never made numbers out of fondant so I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time. I was making the numbers and went to get wax paper to set them on to dry and I found the box empty besides for this tiny strip. The process of making them went very fast and I am pleased with the outcome. I am quite concerned on how I am going to get the 8 to stand up on the cake, but I will deal with that later. Best thing about this was that I got to used left over fondant from my last cake. It is always nice to reuse!
I also started to make the bow I will be wrapping around the top layer of the cake. It turned out bad several times and I am not completely happy with the final outcome, but then again, this is not a good picture. Since I ran out of wax paper, I let it dry on tin foil, probably not a good idea, but oh well.....
Kitchen Island!
Since I started making cakes, I have been quickly running out of counter space. I have been eyeing this kitchen island for a long time. I decided, finally, a few weeks ago that I was actually going to stick with cakes so I purchased it! It sat in the dining room for awhile before it got put together, but now it is fully essembled and ready for use! I stuffed the drawers full of my baking tools and the shelves hold my pans, the stand mixer and other various items. So far I am in love :)
